Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNO): Multiple ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri have triggered a massive security build-up, with intensified frisking, vehicle checks and surveillance along the border belt.
The heightened alert as well as the security escalation along the LoC comes in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and injured several others.
On Tuesday, the Border Security Force (BSF) in coordination with J&K Police, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), established multiple checkpoints along the Baramulla-Uri highway, conducting thorough frisking of commuters and detailed searches of all vehicles.
Earlier, Pakistani forces resorted to ceasefire violations in Uri sector, even as the Indian Army retaliated effectively, ensuring there was no damage on this side of the border.
“During the night of April 28-29, the Pakistan Army initiated small arms firing in areas opposite to the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as in the Akhnoor sector,” officials said.
The violations have been reported since the Pahalgam terror attack, which targeted innocent civilians—seen as a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace and instill fear in the valley.
Meanwhile, locals living in border villages have expressed growing unease over the volatile situation. "We pray things don't escalate further", Uri residents said—(KNO)
